This dance and music performance premiered in the Tivoli Concert Hall on September 6th 2012, as a part of the festival India Today / Copenhagen Tomorrow. Toured in India, Dec. 2016. The tour was supported by the Danish Embassy in India and the Danish Ministry of Culture. The music could not be played live on the tour, as the musicians were unable to participate. The rehearsals took place in Auroville, India.

Footprint takes us on a journey through the emotional and physical traces we leave behind when we experience sadness and love. The performance takes place in the encounter between Danish and Indian artists who each bring different aspects of their culture to the project.

The performance explores differences and similarities between Danish and Indian culture and builds on an innovative interaction between traditional Indian musical instruments, modern acoustic jazz, electronica, contemporary and classical Indian dance, martial arts and modern dance and ballet.

Behind the production of Footprint are the Danish pianist and composer Niels Lan Doky and his trio, and several of the most prominent Indian musicians of present time, such as Purbayan Chatterjee, Prabhu Edouard and Hamza Rahimtulla. The Danish choreographer Birgitte Bauer-Nilsen created the choreography for the participating Danish and Indian dancers.
